Ligonier Valley plan to cut $1.5 million includes ‘painful’ moves

Ligonier Valley School District Superintendent Christine Oldham presented a plan to school directors Monday night to shave $1.5 million from the 2011-12 school year’s budget in an effort to keep tax increases at a minimum.

Her budget cuts were divided into what she called “relatively painless cuts” and “painful cuts,” or those that will cause pain to the district’s programs and classrooms and “begin to impact what we do and what makes us Ligonier Valley.”
