Budget discussions dominate Springfield School Board meeting

April 19 – The Springfield School Board’s April 14 meeting was dominated by discussion of the 2011-12 budget and proposed changes at the state level which may impact it. In the opening public comment period, residents Regina Scheerer and David Curtis both spoke on the budget. Scheerer said attending a finance committee meeting was particularly helpful in the understanding of the budget process. Curtis said he did not agree with the district’s goal of increasing the reserve fund which led to proposed increases in local taxes.
