More Than 150 Jobs On Chopping Block In Bethlehem School District

The Bethlehem Area School Board passed its proposed final budget, which includes more than 150 teacher and staff cuts, 5-4 Monday night after some exchanges were made to alleviate board members’ concerns. By passing the proposed budget, the district has all but locked itself into a 1.7 percent tax increase that will cost residents an additional $56 in taxes next year. However, some residents continued to ask the board for higher taxes to save some programs.
