Restored education dollars are good, but there is still a long way to go

June 28, 2011 – Lawmakers in Harrisburg are hammering out a budget that has serious implications for education across the state. The Chester Upland School District is expecting a reduction of about $10 million from last year’s funding level. It seems like a big cut, until compared with a proposed $21 million reduction that could have led to massive teacher layoffs.
